Harp Isles Controls and Keybinds — Sniff, Fly and Brake

Sniff, fly, brake, call and open the panels, recorded from two footage dates and checked 2026-09-18.

Checked 2026-09-182 recordings compared
Quick answer

Sniff is X, fly is hold Space, air brake is Q

Those are the three bindings people ask about. Everything else is in the tables below, including two keys our two recordings disagree on.

Evidence boundary: Every key below was read from the in-game Keybind Guide or seen used on screen in two creator recordings: 2026-08-30 and 2026-09-07. Two recordings is not the same as a patch note. The game was updated on 2026-09-14 and again on 2026-09-17, after both recordings, and neither update was re-checked against this table. Treat the in-game Keybind Guide as the authority.

The authoritative list is inside the game itself: press K for the avatar statistics panel and open its Keybind Guide. This page exists so you can learn the layout before you load in, and so the two bindings nobody has settled yet are written down instead of guessed.

Keys only one recording shows

These are usable, but they come from a single reading of an on-screen list or prompt. Recheck them in your own build.

Conflicting evidence

Two bindings our sources disagree on

Instead of picking a favourite reading, both are listed. A ten-second test in game settles each one.

Menu wheel (radial)

2026-08-30 recording: M. 2026-09-07 recording: the Keybind Guide lists Menu Wheel without a letter, and the same video's bug notes name N for the radial menu and M for the full map.

How to settle it: Press each once in game. The full map and the radial menu are different screens, so this is easy to settle in ten seconds.

B key

2026-08-30 recording lists B as the broadcast call. 2026-09-07 recording shows an adult female placing a nest with B.

How to settle it: The action may be context-dependent, or one reading is wrong. Do not rely on B until you have tried it in your own build.

Flight

How to fly, in the order that matters

Flight is one held key plus one brake. The parts this page will not guess are how much stamina it costs and which species can do it.

  1. 1. Get airborne

Hold Space on a species that can fly. The recordings show lift-off into a gliding flight mode rather than a flap-to-climb flight.

  2. 2. Brake instead of turning away

Q is the air brake in both recordings. Use it to bleed speed before landing or before lining up a dive.

  3. 3. Lock the camera first

Mouse Lock / Shift Lock is listed next to the movement keys. It is the difference between steering your creature and steering your camera.

  4. 4. Watch stamina, not altitude

Flight is movement, and the recordings show stamina as its own bar next to health. Neither recording measures what flight costs, so this page does not quote a rate.

Mobile

Playing on a phone or tablet

Playable on mobile. A specific button layout is not something we can show you.

We have not verified the mobile layout. There is no mobile recording in our evidence set, so any button position quoted here would be invented. What is verifiable: the experience is listed on Roblox and playable on mobile, a viewer asked on a 2026-09-13 video whether the game can be played on mobile, and a mobile tutorial video exists on TikTok. None of those show which buttons the game puts on screen. Open the game on your device and use its own control list.

If you are on mobile and stuck, the panel key is the one binding worth looking for first: the Keybind Guide inside the statistics panel lists the actions your device is actually offering, whatever it has named them.

When a key fails

Four checks before you assume the game is broken

Most of these turn out to be a tap-versus-hold mistake or a key that moved in a patch.

A key does nothing

Open the avatar statistics panel (K) and compare its Keybind Guide with this table. If they differ, the game is right and this page is out of date — the recordings predate the 2026-09-14 and 2026-09-17 updates.

Sniff will not reveal anything

Scent marks flora, water and player tracks. Standing in a biome with nothing to find looks identical to a broken key.

Cannot take off

Hold, do not tap. A tap is the jump binding on the same key.

B did the wrong thing

That is the disputed key on this page. Report what it did for you on the contact page and it will be corrected here.

Scope

What this page does not claim

Footage this page is built from: Avatar Shards, Deathcaps, NPCS, Smelting, Forging (The Hissy Missy, recorded 2026-08-30) · Ultimate Guide! (Late Kate, recorded 2026-09-07). Found a key that has changed? Say so on the contact page and this table gets corrected rather than quietly dropped.

FAQ

Control questions players actually ask

What key is sniff in Harp Isles?

X, read from the in-game Keybind Guide shown in a creator recording dated 2026-08-30. Earlier versions of this site said the C key; that was wrong. The safest check is the Keybind Guide inside the game, because the game has been patched since the recording.

How do you fly in Harp Isles?

Hold Space. The recordings show a hold-to-fly that puts the creature into gliding flight, with Q as the air brake. Tapping the same key jumps instead, and the flight behaviour was only recorded on a species that can fly.

Where is the keybind guide in Harp Isles?

Inside the avatar statistics panel. Press K to open the panel, then switch to the Keybind Guide view. That list is the authority for your build — this page only records what two dated videos showed.

Can you change or rebind the keys?

Unknown. Neither recording opens a key-remapping screen, so this page does not claim either way. Check the in-game settings menu before assuming your keys are stuck.

Can you play Harp Isles on mobile?

Yes, the experience is playable on mobile, and a viewer asked about it on a 2026-09-13 video. What is not verified here is the mobile button layout: we have no mobile recording, so this page deliberately does not describe where the sniff, fly or brake buttons are.

Why do sources give different keys for the same action?

Because two independent recordings were read at 720p and disagree on two bindings: the menu wheel letter, and whether B is a call or the nest key. Instead of picking a favourite, this page lists both readings with their dates. The in-game Keybind Guide settles it in seconds.
