Harp Isles Crafting Missions & Material Guide

Harp Isles crafting walkthrough built on recorded footage: which materials are picked up with E, which need a SHAKE! grab, the Forging Shrine and Smelter recipes, and how Research Vials feed the skill tree.

Quick answer

How the crafting and research loop actually runs

Two materials in, one item out, and the research currency is a crafted item rather than a quest score.

Every station recipe in recorded footage takes exactly two materials. Forging Shrines also charge 50 DNA per craft; the Smelter recipes shown for Research Vials charge no DNA. Research Vials are then spent on Techtree slots — one vial per slot — so the practical constraint is how fast your smelter queue turns over, not how fast you can gather.

Evidence boundary: Every row below was read from creator footage recorded on 2026-08-30 and 2026-09-13 and analyzed on 2026-09-17. That makes it an observation of one client build, not a published rule. Material names were read from on-screen UI at 720p, so a spelling may be off; recipe amounts and station behaviour can change in any patch.

Gathering

Where each crafting material comes from

The method matters more than the location: several materials do not drop until you attack the object, and hostile plants have to be killed.

Observed crafting materials, how to obtain each one, and the footage timestamp it came from
MaterialMethodWhere it was found
MossPick upGround moss piles; also recorded in the Evergreen Forest and Tundra areas.
TarPick upBlack tar pit near the Old Faithful landmark.
Angel Fern LeafPick up or eatSegmented green plant on the ground; the interaction menu offers Eat and Grab.
Deathcap MushroomPick upSmall mushroom cluster with a green poison cloud. Reported to not respawn on the same server after it is taken.
Medica' Mushroom (spelling unconfirmed)Pick upMushroom cluster with a pink-purple glow.
Exploding MushroomPick upRed mushroom at ground level and along lava edges, with a red-orange glow.
ObsidianAttack until SHAKE!, then grabCube-shaped smooth black boulders in the volcano region — not every black rock is one.
RocksAttack until SHAKE!, then grabAngled columnar black crystal rock.
SilkAttack until SHAKE!, then grabBlue-white cotton-like plant below the plateau crystal cave.
CoglownutAttack the trunkPalm-like tree; keep hitting the trunk until the fruit drops, then Eat or Grab.
Plant DartKill the sourceDrops from the hostile red flower Dart Plant after you kill it. Being attacked without killing it can drop one rarely.
Flytrap LeafDefeat the sourceA large flytrap plant that bites back. Defeat it, then Eat or Grab.
BonesAttack until SHAKE!Large animal skeleton remains on the surface.
Meat ChunkKill or grabFrom killing another creature, or grabbed from remains on the ground.
Forging Shrines

Forging Shrine recipes seen on screen

Forging Shrines are the broken white pod structures firing a blue-green vertical beacon. Each recipe below was shown costing 50 DNA on top of the two materials.

Forging Shrine recipes with the materials and footage timestamp for each
OutputMaterials
Webbed Tar ×11 Silk + 1 Tar
Hunger Salve ×11 Angel Fern Leaf + 1 Flytrap Leaf
Bacteria Flesh ×11 Silk + 1 Meat Chunk
Growth Salve ×11 Coglownut + 1 Silk
Healing Salve ×11 Medica' Mushroom + 1 Moss
Boomshroom ×11 Tar + 1 Exploding Mushroom
Mineshroom ×11 Moss + 1 Exploding Mushroom
Splintered Bone ×11 Bone + 1 Rock
Smelters

Smelter recipes and shown timers

Smelters are the lava-side station with the red-orange beam. This is where research currency comes from.

OutputMaterials
Research Vial ×51 Angel Fern Leaf + 1 Plant Dart
Advanced Research Vial ×11 Healing Salve + 1 Plant Dart
DNA ×4501 Obsidian + 1 Deathcap Mushroom

Constraints

Three limits that decide your route

These are the parts of the loop that actually change what you should do next, and all three are visible on screen.

Three-slot hotbar

A creature carries three items at a time. Long gathering circuits fill up before they pay off, so the efficient pattern is a short circuit that ends at a station rather than a full tour of the island.

One shared queue

Smelter progress is global rather than per station: opening a smelter somewhere else shows the same running job. You can gather while a job runs instead of guarding the machine.

Collect at 100%

Reaching 100% does not hand you the item. The footage shows the player pressing Smelt a second time to claim the output, which is an easy step to miss when you walk away mid-job.

Research

What the crafting loop is actually for

Crafting exists to feed Techtree research and Apex unlocks, not to sell items to other players.

Vials fill slots

Creator footage shows a slot prompt reading that filling it costs 1 Research Vial. Buying an extra slot was shown costing 500 DNA and lasting 3 uses. Which branch a vial should go into is a decision worth planning first — the Techtree planner covers that.

Two research paths, one currency

Species and subspecies trees are researched separately, and creators describe subspecies research as producing the same Avatar Shard as the species tree. That claim is spoken rather than shown in the footage, so treat it as a report to verify in game rather than a rule.

Every row above comes from material recorded on 2026-08-29, 2026-08-30 and 2026-09-13 and analyzed on 2026-09-17. The full source list is on the items and rewards reference. If a name or timer no longer matches your build, tell us on the contact page and it will be corrected rather than quietly dropped.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for the crafting and research loop.

How do you start crafting in Harp Isles?

You do not craft from a menu. You collect two materials, walk to a station marked by a vertical light beam, and pay a currency cost. Forging Shrines fire a blue-green beam and ask for 50 DNA per craft. Smelters fire a red-orange beam over lava and charge no DNA for the Research Vial recipes.

What is the fastest research loop?

Creator footage recorded 2026-08-30 and 2026-08-29 shows the shortest loop as: kill a Dart Plant for a Plant Dart, grab an Angel Fern Leaf from the green segmented plant, then smelt 1 of each into 5 Research Vials. Filling a Techtree slot costs 1 Research Vial. The footage shows a 1200s timer on that recipe, so the bottleneck is the smelter queue rather than the farming.

How many materials can I carry at once?

Three. The creature hotbar shown in footage has three slots, which is why long gathering trips waste time unless you smelt between trips or switch stored specimens.

Do I have to stay at the smelter while it runs?

No. Footage shows the smelter queue is shared across the map: opening a smelter at a different location shows the same progress and the same output. You do have to press Smelt again once the bar reaches 100% before the item is collected.

Why did this page stop naming specific herbs and salves?

Earlier versions listed flora and consumables such as Crystalline Moss, Salt Lichen, Softroot Bulb, Luminescent Reed, Vitality Salve and Endurance Tonic. None of those names appear in the official Roblox listing, the community wiki, or dated creator footage, so they have been removed and replaced with materials and recipes that were read from on-screen UI with a timestamp.
